This engraved bloodstone represents Taras, the son of Poseidon and Nymph Satyria. When Taras was shipwrecked, his father sent a dolphin to his rescue. He rode the dolphin and brought ashore to the south of Italy, where he was worshipped as a hero and founded the city of Tarentum at his honor.
