This is an extraordinary carved ring, handmade with silver and 22 karat gold. 
Engraving gemstones with contemporary forms, is what makes it remarkable. This embossed hematite represents Taras, the son of Poseidon and Nymph Satyria. When Taras was shipwrecked, his father sent a dolphin to his rescue. He rode the dolphin and brought him ashore to the south of Italy, where he was worshipped as a hero. The city of Tarentum was founded at his honor.
