Amethyst is the essence of purple color. Most people think of Amethyst when they picture a beautiful purple gem.

In ancient Greek “Amethystos” means “not drunk”. Due to its name amethyst in the ancient Greek refers to the belief that the stone protects the owner from drunkenness and the negative effects of consumption of alcohol like intoxication while it induced sober and serious mind. Greek legends associated the stone with Bacchus, the god of wine, because of its wine-like color.
